Pink October 2026
In October, all of Togo turns pink
What is Pink October?
Every year, October is dedicated worldwide to breast cancer awareness. Its symbol, the pink ribbon, is a reminder that talking about it is already taking action.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide, and cervical cancer is among the cancers that affect women most in sub-Saharan Africa. Yet when detected early, both are far more treatable, and cervical cancer can largely be prevented through human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination and screening.
In Togo, GFVD-GL makes Pink October a key moment of mobilisation against both women’s cancers: walks, round tables, community talks and screening days, together with our partners.
- Inform about warning signs and risk factors
- Encourage breast self-examination and early detection
- Break the silence and support women and their families
